That's My World Tuesday

The folks that bring you skywatch Fridays have come up with another brilliant idea. They want to see the world that you live in your state, town, city, vacation pictures.Whatever you want to share to show people all over the world. If you would like to see pieces of the world from people's perspective or want to show us all yours just click on the logo.I think it is an awesome idea so I am starting with something that is new to me well almost 2 years new to me my yard.

I lived in NJ for the first 36 years of my life we lived in a 3 bedroom ranch style house on an 80x120 lot.If your not sure the size of that well it is very small. In 2005 we decided we had enough of NJ and their high cost of living and their high property taxes. So we packed up the kids and pets and moved to NC.

This is a picture of what our new yard looked like when we moved to it.We bought a house that sits on 5.75 acres of land that had been empty for 7 years before we bought it. Needless to say it was a bit over grown. But we loved it it had the space we craved and a house we feel in love with instantly. Not to mention the property taxes were well within our budget and were three times less than what we paid in NJ for 10 times the property.

This is a picture of the work in progress we were able to get rid of the high grass that was right outside the deck. The area you see in the picture is what we call The Swampy area because when it rains it gets so wet you can't walk in it.

This is the same area pictured above now after a little over two years of working on it. We planted a baby Weeping Willow (pictured below) to help soak up some of the water to try to make it a little less wet. We still have so much to do but no clue where to start lol.

This is the willow, when we got it, it was only 12 inches tall now it is 6 feet tall and that's only after a year and a half. I can't wait to see it all grown up.

This is the front yard and we are at a loss of where to start with the landscape. There is just so much open space we don't know what to put where. Maybe we could put in a giant pond and fill it with tons of fish I bet Fishing Guy would love that lol.

So this is my large small part of the world thanks for stopping by to see it. See you next time.

To make a garden and wait some plant to grow... that really takes some time! Thank you for visiting my blog. :)

I would have tons of ideas - involving more trees, Wildflowers and ponds...:)

Tina: My, you certainly pegged me on first guess. Yes; start the digging for the pond immediatly. Maybe you will hit a spring and you can start stocking. I really enjoyed the post with the pictures from NC.

This is beautiful!! Really incredible! Looks like you definitely made the right decision for your family!

Thanks so much for your comment on my story! I almost didn't post it--but comments like yours make me glad I did! Hope that makes sense--I'm fighting a wicked cold and the cold meds make me a little loopy!!

Blessings!

I totally understand you wish for space! I have the same wish, but it can't be helped at the moment.

Landscaping is daunting... and expensive. I don't envy you on that account!

Looks like you're really carving out a nice place for yourselves. It's always nice to have a little elbow room, isn't it. You're making great progress from the pictures.
best wishes, RR @ RuralRamblings.com

Oh, I'm with Klaus. Love your courage to seek your dream. We started with bare paddocks, now have dams,a park and my gardens.
I'm just brimming with wild ideas for your place too.

Great job and I know it was alot of hard work, but ultimately rewarding each time you look out.

Thanks for dropping by RuralRamblings.com - guineas would indeed help with any tick problems. They are noisy, so that's a consideration. Chickens can help too, but I bought guineas for an overpopulation of ticks here, and they have worked wonderfully well.
