The "taxi" cab reaction is an interesting one. I think that it all depends on the history of the cat and what associations that they make with the "taxi".
Since we got our youngest - a girl, who doesn't mind the taxi, our eldest - a boy, is getting better about taxi time. The only time he went in it himself was when we were evacuating due to a flood - don't think he wanted to be left behind ;)
