The Cook

I know how much you all enjoyed seeing my topless husband cooking so I thought I would thrill you all again (he he)I know I know he likes to cook without a shirt that is so he can show off his manly physique.

This is the preparation of the food look at him hard at work. Yet he makes it look so easy.

And this is the finished product doesn't it look just so darn yummy? Let me tell you it sure was MMMMMMM!

The Man And His "Gravy"

The neighbor brought us over some fresh tomatoes so "The Man" decided he would make homemade "gravy" I call it "sauce"

He started with cutting the tomatoes

Straining the seeds and skin

Mixing all the spices in for just the perfect taste

He was so very proud of himself the "gravy" "sauce" turned out delicious.

Calling All Bakers

I'm calling on all my blogging buddies who know how to bake.

Let me start off by telling you that when we bought this house it came with a giant Pecan tree in the back yard. With that being said. In about 2 months my tree is going to produce some beautiful pecans and I have no idea what to do with them all.

So I am calling on you to send me some recipes.I like to bake although I am not very good at it. I do try though. Any recipes that I receive and can actually make I will post pictures and give props to whomever sent it.

Thanks in advance

What's For Dinner?

I'm making shit on a shingle for dinner tonight. What? It's dried beef gravy on toast for all you have never heard of it. My mom always called it shit on a shingle when I was growing up. No matter what you call it I LOVE it. I usually don't make it until the fall and winter months but I was out grocery shopping saw the jar of dried beef and my tummy said "why wait make it now".

If you like I am going to come back after dinner to tell you how to make it.

See you after dinner!

Ok like I said my mom used to make SOS alot when I was a kid. I always liked it but until about 4 years ago had no luck in making it right. That is until I found the recipe in an old Better Homes and Garden recipe book my mother-in-law gave me before she passed.

Here is the recipe follow it if you like I have added a few things to meet my needs.

In a large skillet cook one 3 or 4 ounce package sliced dried beef or smoked beef or even ground beef. (It is all a matter of your taste)snipped in 2 tablespoons butter for 3 minutes or until ends of beef curl up.
Stir 2 tablespoons all purpose flour into butter mixture: add 1 1/3 cups of milk all at once. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook for additional 1 to 2 minutes more. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce and a dash of ground black pepper. Spoon over buttered toast.

This is a great meal for a family on a budget this recipe serves 3 to 4 people I always double everything up. I would recommend that you not add salt if using dried beef as this tends to be very salty.

Hope you try this recipe if you do let me know what changes you made and how it turned out.
